About Food Allergies

Did you know that food allergy is the most likely cause of allergic symptoms in animals under 1 year of age?

You may recognize these symptoms:  ear inflamation, excessive feet licking, generalized itching, gastritis, and in some cases vomiting and diarrhea.

Since food sensitivities cannot be treated by immunotherapy, avoidance and elimination diets are the only form of treatment for food allergy.  Should your pet test positive to specific foods, Bio-Medical Services will provide your veterinarian with a list of commercial diets free of those ingredients to which the animal has tested positive.

Informed Food Avoidance Program

Bio-Medical Services works closely with the leading pet food manufacturers to maintain a database of over 2500 premium and prescription pet food diets and treats.

Based on the results of your pet's food allergy test, our computer will search our database to generate a list of acceptable diets, both canned and dry foods, that your pet can eat.  Included in this list are also tolerable treats, and a list of the vendors who sell these products.
